shape block painting.

I can let my child play in shaving cream, but for some reason I have issues with paint.  But I really want to let her be creative so I busted it out!

What you need for this activity is:
shape blocks
paint (tempura is best, but I had acrylic, so I used it!)
tray or old sheet cake pan
contruction paper
paint holder or paper plate/bowl
apron or paint smock

I had to show Hannah how to dip it in the paint, but she caught on quickly after that!

But, she still decided that finger-painting was more fun!

Trying the circle...she ended up just moving it around on the paper instead of stamping it...but all I cared about was that she was enjoying it! :)

(and it wasn't as much of a mess as I thought it would be.  It was nice having the tray to corral the paint.)

You know paint makes me nervous too! I think its the color part of it and that fact that paint seems so much more permenant than shaving cream. I hesitate to let my 5th graders paint!! But it sure is fun to see what they come up with no matter the age!! :)

Brave Woman!!! She definately looked like she was loving it. I love your ideas. Keep posting. One of these days I am going to be brave and LET my kids "Make" a mess vs always cleaning up one!! --Jana
