biggest loser {week one}.

One of my good friends did a Biggest Loser Competition this summer.  I wanted to start it when she did, but then I didn't have enough motivation or something because I am obviously not starting until now!  She lost about 13 lbs!!!   Go YOU! (you know who you are)

It is a 12 week program where you start something new each week so you don't get overwhelmed and give up or have a dramatic weight loss and then gain it back after the program is done.

Everyone who participates is suppose to weigh in once a week to track the progress.

This morning was MY first weigh in and I was
135.8

The most I have weighed (besides being pregnant) was about 145 and that was in Dec '06, when I graduated from College.  Gaining 35 lbs in two years wasn't good for me.
(December 2006)
(I love Connel's sexy eyes in the pic! hee hee!)

The least since being married is when I GOT married, I was about 110.  Let's face it, I will NEVER fit into my wedding dress again!
(June 2004)

In September 2008 I joined a gym and in about 4 or 5 months I went down from 140-ish to about 124 (that is what I weighed at my first OB appt. when I was pregnant w/ Hannah).  I was feeling really good about that because I had not weighed that much since...like, um, our first year of marriage (2004-2005)!
 (April-ish 2009)

Okay, so getting back on track.

Since I have done it before (but then gained it back)...I have decided to make my goal to loose 15 lbs.  But, I am actually more concerned about losing INCHES.

Here are my current measurements:
Waist: 37
Hips: 37 3/4
Thighs: 22 1/2 each <----I think that was the size of my waist was at my wedding!  Oy.

I don't really have a goal as far as inches because I don't even know what to shoot for!  I do know that I want to fit back into pre-pregnancy jeans! :)
I am having to set aside great deal of pride to do this...
Here are the BEFORE (or NOW) pictures... (if you are feeling brave you can click to Enlarge! :)
Well...that was humiliating.  That middle photo looks like a pregnancy pic!

My ULTIMATE goal is just to start eating well and exercising each day so that I can stay healthy and live to be a ripe old age with lots of energy...No marathons required.  However I would not object to a little ballroom dancing! :)

I will weigh in each Wednesday Morning and report back!  But here is something...My final weigh in will be the DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING!!!  Won't Thanksgiving Dinner be a great reward for completing the program?  HA!  Either that or spoil all my results!

SO...Is there anyone who would like to participate with me?  Feel free!  Let me know if you are going to do it...I'd love to hear about your progress!

This week the goal is to start exercising. 30 minutes of continual exercise at least 3 times a week.
Good LUCK!
-----------------------

Here are the weekly challenges just in case anyone wants to know:
Week 1: 30 minutes of continual exercise at least 3 times a week.
Week 2: Watch what you are drinking. Cut in half the amount of soda and juice you drink. (if you can't stop altogether).  Increase how much water you are drinking. Decrease or stop alcohol and coffee (and stop cream and sugar in your coffee).
Week 3: Do not eat after 7 pm.

Week 4: Replace your bad snacks with good snacks. (Carrots, apples, celery, etc.)

Week 5: Eat breakfast. Choose healthy options like oatmeal or fruit. Also only eat the "good stuff" once a week...meaning not eating bacon and eggs with sausage or doughnuts every day.
Week 6: Eat low cholesterol and low calorie snacks. Here is website to go and get Fit-Nutz, a low calorie peanut butter.
Week 7: Grill or bake it, don't fry it!!

Week 8: Stop and think about why you are eating. Are you really hungry??  Don't eat and watch TV or read. Concentrate on your food. Stop eating after you are 80% full and wait 20 minutes. See if you are still hungry after those 20 minutes.
Week 9: Do not go out to eat. And if you do, only eat half of your meal.
Week 10: Eat more salad. Put the dressing on the side and use one with low calories. Also no croutons and more walnuts or sunflower seeds. Remember to put lots of veggies on it!
Week 11: Substitute higher calorie foods for lower.  Sour Cream-Plain yogurt, Sugar-Honey, Butter-Smart Balance spread, Cream-Milk, Noodles-Spaghetti squash, Eggs-Egg beater, Oils in baking-Applesauce
Week 12: Get rid of white flour and replace it with wheat flour.

Count me in too Laura!! I totally need to drop a few pounds and this sounds like something I can do! :) Oh, a good trick I heard was to take a picture of yourself that you don't really like (one where you think you look fat or ugly, like you have any of those!;) and put it on the fridge. That way when you reach for a snack you can be reminded of what your trying to accomplish. Good luck :)

I'll get back on the bandwagon; Jeremy and I have been using myfitnesspal.com to help track our calories and exercise and weight loss.. I'm down 16 lbs, but want to lose...more :) Way to be brave posting your self-challenge on your blog! And, P.S., I think you're beautiful :)

Oh, Laura. *sigh* I told myself today that I wasn't in the mood of exercising ever again, cookies are my staple now, and I didn't care if I put the weight back on. Pathetic, huh? I need your drive. I want to do it, but I don't want to. Too much work. lol Trapper says I have to. Oh the turmoil!!!

You are my hero. I don't think I could ever post my measurements and weight for the world to see. Good luck with the challenge; you can do it! I'll be in after the new year.

Hey Laura:
I am so proud of you... Remember you can do anything that you put your mind to. You know that I exercise everyday.... and guess what it's been just about 5 years since I started. Sometimes all I can do is just walk on my treadmill but I don't feel bad because I try. It may not be the best but I am trying. I finally decided this last week. That I can do it.... I am going to run a epic journey ... Why not right????
